Hi all...considering buying a 2015 denali hd w diesel. ..payload capacity is 3000 pounds. If fifth wheel hitch wt is 1500 pounds do I assume I subtract that from payload leavingeme only 1500 pounds in this $65000 super truck...thx...bo

Crew cab diesel 3/4 ton GM trucks are 2100-2500 pound range of payload. A Denali will be on the lower end of that. Confirm by looking at the tire and loading sticker as you shop. 3000 pounds sounds a lot like the 3/4 ton gas engine payload.
1500 pounds dry pin weight will grow to at least 2000 pounds loaded. Plus another 200 pound receiver in the bed.
Get the SRW 3500 for $500 more - 1400 pound higher payload.boingram wrote:

Do yourself a favor, DO NOT use "dry" weight of the 5er, or dry pin weight...No one tows a 5er dry or empty...You'll have clothes, dishes, pots pans, some outside chairs and on and on...Your BEST BET..is to take the 5er's GVW and use a more realistic number to figure a more realistic pin weight. This will make it much easier on YOU when matching a TV to the 5er you're going to tow. "IF" the dry weight is 8,000#, then possibly the GVW is 10,000#? making a pin weight closer to 2,000#..
What is the GVW of the 5er you're wanting to get?
What does your door sticker state your payload is?
Do you know your RAWR (rear axle weight rating?)- ...auto...why is that surprising...and I am looking at approx 8000 # dry fivers w 16 - 1800 pin wt...

As stated, 1500# sounds light for a 5er pin weight...Look and see what the GVW of the 5er you're wanted to get and take 20% of that and it'll give you a "ball park" of how much pin weight you might be putting in the bed of your truck....- What trailer are you going to tow?
A pin weight of 1500 lbs is a little light for most 5th wheel trailers.
20-25% pin weight is a good target for a trailer that will tow well. - That GMC is one nice truck, I debated a Denali when I bought my Silverado.

If your hitch wt is indeed 1500# then then yes, you have 1500# remaining payload...and I don't think you could put another 1500# in your truck if you tried really, really, really hard.- What truck are you looking at 3500 SRW?
