Same thing happened when we bought the new trailer home, just couldn't get the hitch off the ball. Finally used the TV to pull ball mount out of hitch.
Examining the trailer coupler I found on the front inside a ridge or rough line, which was enough to bind on the ball and prevent release, never mind how high I jacked the hitch, moved the TV or jumped up and down on it.
I took a small grind wheel in a Dremel tool and smoothed out the ridge inside on the front of the cup, then emery clothed the inside to be really nice and smooth. Now the hitch comes off, not as easy as my cargo trailer hitch mind, but at least it releases when TV is moved back or forward,a little.
The trailer coupling was made in China, as I suspect many are, and the clearances may be too exact or such ridge exists from not finishing the coupling 100%.
