Homemade Backup Cam

I can FaceTime with mine anywhere, his has to have wifi, fortunately my router is powerful enough to put out a good signal in the driveway. Didn't work at the beach, campground wifi was so busy so the DW was re-enlisted to her backup duties!

The only problem is if your break the phone or driveover it the cost is 4X the cost of the back up cam.

This is a great idea, but don't you need wi-fi to Facetime?

You shouldn't drive when using your phone.

I'm a tightwad (most of the time) and this works til I talk myself into buying a sure enough camera!

I use my wife's iPhone and mine when setting up my sat dish. I point hers at the tv screen with the sat boxed tuned to the point dish page. Use facetime and watch on my iPhone as I fine tune the dish position to get the best signal. There is a delay so I make small changes and then wait for the picture (and sound) to catch up.
