We do exactly the same, when we get back from skiing we run the genny to charge the batteries for running heater over-night and run an electric heater while we are awake from our H2K...could not do that with a 1k.
For the small difference in cost/size/weight there is no good reason to get a 1k genny.
Skiing is about the only time we carry a genny. 2 GR 27 AGM's are sufficient power for us the rest of the year, so the genny gets little use...but when we do need it, the ability to run all appliances and charge at the same time is a big plus.
