I have been using a Honda i1000 for many years and it works great for charging the batteries. I have added 200W of solar, but because of "clouds and night" as the poster put it, I still use the generator once in awhile. I like it because it is small, light and compact and fits in one of my compartments. Don't have to carry much gas as it is very fuel efficient.
For toast and coffee we use a stove top rack ($5.00) and an old style peculator coffee pot on the stove. Works well. Don't miss the 110V appliances at all.
