The cutting of EU2000 handles is really overblown.
Yes it is possible to do.. But doing so forever marks it as stolen. You can't sell it, as nobody in their right mind would buy it. Couldn't use it, as any officer would easly spot it.
I actually priced a new case once. I figured that with all the cut handled stolen generators out there, that buying one cheap and putting a new case:B on it would be economical.... They are pricey.
.
So don't bet that it will be all that hard to re-sell..
Where are all of these cut handled generators? Have you ever seen one? The fact is that yes, it is possible... But just not all that likely. Anyone buying a "good deal" would be resigned to forever using it in secret.. There just isn't much of a market for a cut handled Honda. They will just cut the cable chain etc. and have a unblemished Honda. Use the money for the beefed up handle for insurance, or a replacement fund, in the unlikely event it grows legs.
:R
Is that the "best" you can do?
You have much to learn "little grasshopper"..
Folks don't seem to have a problem breaking into homes, ripping wire out, plumbing out then selling the stuff.. Not to mention bunches of those folks cutting LIVE power company lines and living to unload it at the nearest scrap yard..
You simply are not going to see that stuff "advertised", BUT it IS BEING DONE.
The ones really looking to score are the ones with the mobile power tools.. pretty much any hardened lock CAN be cut off in less than a minute with a grinder.. You can easily get bolt cutters which will do it silently.. If it can be locked it CAN be unlocked.
Locks and chains are for the "honest thieves", determined thieves can make your entire vehicle disappear in the time it takes for you to go inside and grab a refreshment..
The BEST POLICY IS TO NOT ADVERTISE IT PERIOD..
Out of sight out of mind..
Put in the back of your vehicle with a cover when not in use.. Don't have a place in the vehicle then attach a heavy metal box to your trailer. Thieves won't know you have a gen if it isn't in plain view..
