I think the maintinace issue is owner related. Some that put a lot of miles on theirs will pay more. I only drive 10,000 a year so for me it's not much to put 1 fuel filter on and have one extra oil change. $130.00 more a year is not twice as much as a gasser. How about those guys with the 5.0 Ford F150 that takes 8 qrts of semi syn oil? That's more than the 6qrt non syn gassers. Not much but that's the point. Some diesels are cheaper to maintain than others.
