I have the same truck as you, '14 Z71 1500 Silverado. By the owners manual the max trailer weight for me is 9600lbs. I towed my 30ft. TT 9000 miles this past summer with out any issues like you describe, but then my TT is 6500lbs loaded for fun. Plain and simple, I think you have too much trailer for that 1/2 ton truck. Understanding all the weights and how they factor into towing safely is confusing. Is there anyone whom you know, Brother in law, neighbor, who has a trailer and might be able to help you through the weighing process and lend their experience? Us RV folks are usually ready and wiling to help, you just need to let it be known. Don't be afraid to ask for help. The weight numbers are the telling factor in if you have enough truck for that trailer.
