We tow a trailer 31 feet overall that weighs 6600 lb loaded with a 2012 Silverado 1500. Last 2 years about 17000 miles. We use an Equal-i-zer brand hitch. It took some adjusting to get it right. There is no pitching or bucking. There is also no disurubance from tractor trailers passing on freeways.
Trailer is tongue heavy sitting about 1 inch low at the front. The truck fender heights are the same hooked up as when no trailer attached. TChe bars are parallel to the trailer tongue.
My truck is not a Z71. I think they have a little rougher ride. However you should be able to get the unit set up to tow properly. It will take some time and careful adjustments.
