We went and looked at one at the Host factory and liked it so much we ordered one from the local dealer. sticker on the one we looked at was about 4200 lbs as equipped. the one we ordered as equipped should come in about 4007 lbs. we really liked the floor plan..had a tough time deciding between the Mammoth and Cascade (still having a tough time actually) but the weight was a really big factor for us and my husband could see himself in the theatre seating watching a game and enjoying an adult beverage.
Thank you! Exactly what I needed. I really wanted a shorter floor plan from our CURRENT 11.5 ft Yellowstone because of flexing issues with the frame over the years due to the extremely large passenger slide and center of gravity location. When we toured the factory last summer , I expressed this desire to Randall. He examined our current setup. He said he thought our truck would handle the Mammoth, it might be actually about the same weight, would probably ride better than our current unit, and I assume it probably would, since this new generation of Host campers seem to have a center of gravity more thoughtfully considered, in their design as well as a more robust and thoughtful approach to structural integrity. However, the extra seating area in this new Cascade seems to provide a solution to the "dinette fatigue" seating issue on long trips I was looking for, with the added advantage that it is lighter, shorter and has one less slide . I am not willing to order a Mammoth with just two slides.
Anyway, its time to make the drive and check one out. Maybe I can get up to North Carolina to take a look at that one before it sells.
