Host Cascade

Afternoon, I do not own a Cascade, however I do own a 2020 Mammoth and have been through their plant in Bend. Follows is what I think are two important factors: each opening window-hatch etc is framed, the through bolts and backing plates.

I have previously owned an Airstream trailer and an Artic Fox tc, Host is ahead of their respective products. We have over 45 nights in our Mammoth.

I will echo a prior comment-contact Randall P at Host: he will be quite helpful and ends up speaking with the vast majority of Host owners. The factory support after a purchased has been first rate!

Thanks everyone for your input, especially you MrPhelps. My current camper is a 2004 Lance 815. I've had it since new, and it has been a great little camper and held up really well, just getting a bit too small and I need some more space. So my experience with Lance has been a positive one. Now it's time for an upgrade, and I like the extra seating the Cascade will provide, along with the extra space. Thanks again, and if anyone has any more advice, please feel free.

I have a 2018 Cascade on 2018RAM 3500 CTD Dually. I have never owned a Lance. It rides better than my prior Host Yellowstone ( 2 slide). Better stability and Center of Gravity (CG) feel. I only have lower stable loads, no other mods on new truck. Still stock tires.

It is a somewhat non-traditional floor plan from my prior Host. I can tell you that it is much more comfortable however. My configuration was ordered as a king size bed, one recliner and the sofa w/high low adjustable table. This beats a traditional dinette hands down. Pecan interior with simulated leather on sofa and chair. It can function as a dinette a living room or a mobile office . Installed sat radio antenna at the factory and we installed the radio on fireplace mantel after. We have taken two long trips in it including almost 3 months up the eastern US and into eastern Canada this previous summer. It is a very comfortable camper and we really have enjoyed it.

Tank dumping in a Cascade is non-traditional and not like my other camper and was my biggest transition issue. The black tank is in the slide and is dumped separately from the gray tank. You will need a longer hose. It is important to keep your dump valve cable lubricated.

You must open both slides to access the bathroom. That seems to be an issue for some but we have not found it to be a problem.

In my semi uneducated opinion, the Lance is a very nice camper, in a more traditional layout.
Host is a solid step up in features and layout for the same size camper.
Big downside of the Lance is small tanks. Host kills the Lance in all 3 tank sizes. Not important if you camp with hookups, but a big deal if you dry camp.

I thought it was very nice. I saw one of couple years ago at The Seattle RV show. I bought my Host in 2006, and we've really enjoyed it.

Our moderator’s knowledge of Cascade and their customizations gives great weight to them.

The Cascade is a good match for most DRW trucks. Host offers many unpublished options and customizations that others do not, so make sure you speak with Randall and join the Host owner group on Facebook.

They both are very nice. The Lance would be my choice.
