Host Chinook

We went looking at TCs yesterday and we had a great time. It is the first time that we saw a Host TC. They didn't have the Chinook on the lot but they had the Aspen, Mammoth and Everest. I really was impressed with the quality. What we liked was the size of the dry bath. I figure that the Chinook could be hauled on my F250 if I add super springs. So now I will be just dreaming of a new toy.
  • No problem. My dad has an artic fox(I don't remember the model number) it's the long wheelbase with double sides and a mid dry bath. It is nice but the inside of my aspen seems so much bigger than his. I liked the layout of the chinook but I use my camper to fish tournaments most so I always have a boat hooked to my truck also. The aspen with the side door was just easier for me
  • My wife loved the aspen SB, the triple slide out really made the camper feel big. Thanks for the reply.
  • I have the 2014 aspen SB and carry it on my 2014 Chevy 2500. I added bags and stable loads and don't have any complaints. I'm from Alabama and bought mine from toms Camperland in Arizona without ever seeing one in person and Allen was great to deal with. He even helped when I had a delivery service pick it up and ship it to me.
  • We just sold a Host Everest triple slide. It was amazing! Bought it new in 2008 put it on an 2006 Dodge 1 ton ( not a dually) with air bags. We took it everywhere. We only sold it because we wanted the room that a motorhome gives, but for a truck camper (yes I can spell out the words), they have amazing room.
  • We like our double slide a lot and love the open space. The second slide really opens up the kitchen area in our case, and gives us room for our dog crates as needed.
  • This was the first time DW and I have been in a TC with 2 slide outs, some day I will up grade the truck and look for a bigger camper. I will definitely keep Host in mind.
  • Looked at your profile and the lance is as big as I would go
By the time you add 2 people and 500lbs of stuff you would be in DRW territory
looks like the F350 in 2017 will fit the bill.
  • The weight starts around 2900 pounds, we wouldn't need air or some of the other extras. It has a east west bed so the nose cap is smaller. I do agree its right on the border of a one ton truck. My wife really likes the dry bath, and I don't want a camper that is really big but the duel slide outs are nice.
  • I like my older Host, and they are better now.

The weight of the Chinook will be similar to my Rainier which is stickered as 3571 lbs. Once you add water and your stuff even if you travel light, you'll be 500 lbs heavier.

I hauled it on a '06 F350 SC SRW 4x4 PSD for 8 years with about 7 of it with 19.5s. You'll likely be at least 2500 lbs over your GVWR. Possible, but not optimal.
  • Weight, distance to center of gravity?
Don't think dry bath TC can be less than 4000lb.
If that i the case you can forget about having it on F250.
    Been there, done that.
