Hot Water Heater, SW6-DE

Greetings. I am new here, and new to travel trailers. I am de-winterizing my rig, and I am not sure if my hot water heater is bypassed or not. I did clear out the anti-freeze, replace the anode rod, and opened all faucets. Something about the hot water does not seem right. The heater is NOT on.

My big question is about this picture. It is my understanding that plumbing liquid or gas requires the valves to pointed in the direction of the flow, it at a right angle, no flow. Here's the picture:

The valve next to the orange cable appears to be off. Any ideas?

Thanks, Gary
  • That is not in bypass. The line that runs between the two is closed like it should be and the other 2 are open. Pull the temp/pressure valve and make sure water comes out. Is the power turned on to it as well as the gas?
  • Could not open picture but with trailer hooked to water, be sure water comes out the pressure relief valve before turning it on.
  • The valve in your picture appears to be in the closed position. Turn it to the open position and open a hot water faucet in the trailer to remove the air trapped in the water heater. DO NOT turn the water heater on till you are sure there is water in it. If still no water, look for another valve, as some setups have two. Welcome, and good luck!
