What elevation of mountains are you in? if under 5000' or so. probably will not notice much difference tween a gas and diesel. If over that, upwards of 10K', then with a 25-30% drop in HP due to elevation....probably notice that.
Otherwise, get what works for you. I'm driving a vortec 350 from a dmax. Works for me. But then again, the C2500 weighs less than 5000 lbs stock, about 5200-5300 with rack and a few other asst items in truck vs 8200 for the CC dually diesel. 50 less hp is not too big a deal. Altho 4 vs 5 forward gears is a noticeable difference.
