I like Ron's method. It takes three trips over the scales, one with just the truck, one with the trailer connected but without the WD hitch connected and a third with the WD working.
When setting up a WD hitch it is nice to know how much weight is being transferred to the front axle of the TV. First weighing gives you the front axle of the truck. With trailer attached you will find out how much weight has been removed. Now connect the WD hitch and you will find out how much has been returned to the front axle. Adjust your hitch accordingly.
