We carried WAY too much stuff in the 5er "just in case". It never got used. Now we carry the necessities.
Chairs, (just enough for us) are stored in the space in the basement. It's quite roomy. We also store a grill table in there, along with some other misc items.
The grill is carried in the gen compartment. We don't transport wood because of the emerald ash borer. If we bring a cooler, it fits inside the TC in front of the stove with enough room for the slide. If we bring the corn toss boards, they go on the bed or in the truck if the dogs aren't with us.
Our side compartment is very spacious. We store our carpet, screen room, tools, leveling blocks, pie irons, milk crates containing DH's fish cleaning items, insect repellent, lanterns, many other items that may come in handy, to include a portable picnic table. Our additional step to the TC also fits and we still have space available.
We've learned to bring only enough for us and if we have guests, they have to bring their own. With a TC, you really discover what is needed. We have so much room that we haven't had a time that we had to say "I wish we had...". If we do need to carry something larger, we put in the boat if it's coming along. If not, we don't bring it. You make do.
Of course it would be different if we had kids, but we have traveled with DH's mom, and we still had plenty of space. We have a larger TC, so that does help. You just have to use good judgment and be a little creative. You can make it work.
