My $0.02
* Eliminate the unneeded stuff.
* I never hauled firewood.
* I occasionally pull a trailer (with the toy I used to put in the Toy Hauler) or a toad - stick extra stuff there.
* I put a bike rack on a hitch in the front to hold the fence for the dogs.
* My generator is built in, and uses propane, but is currently busted. I rely on solar. I am thinking of upping the solar and just removing the generator.
* I bought different chairs that fit in the basement.
We also went from TH to TC. Outdoor furniture and kennel go behind the front seats in the truck cab and we use a LPG fire so no wood is required. I worry about blocking cooling to the engine using a front carrier basket but will use it on the rear if I am not towing a trailer and want bring along extras, bikes or scooter.
We figured out our storage issues but missed the large capacities of our TH, so I outfitted the enclosed trailer with extra fresh & gray water tanks plus I carry extra LPG tanks for the TC's onboard generator. This allows us to dry camp for extended periods of time with all the comforts we had before.
We just returned from a five night trip with the 20' enclosed trailer and will be heading out again with our 8' flat bed for a couple nights with different toys. Having a TC is so much more flexible than our TH since you can take different size garages with you based on need or no garage at all. Even with a 20' garage, my overall length is 45' which still makes getting around easy. When nothing is hanging off the hitch, I am only 22' bumper to bumper.
