We brought our new TT home yesterday, and will load it up and get it weighed tomorrow. I intend to have it no higher than 6000#, give or take 100#. If it's too heavy, out goes the coffee-pot.
It sounds like you aren't really any closer to finding out what your Sequoia is capable of towing. Just picking an arbitrary number (6000 lbs) and trying to adhere to it doesn't really focus on the original intent, to find out if you have too much weight on the hitch. Since you're adverse to believing what has been posted about payload rating and others are telling you you'll be fine, why not stop at the Toyota dealership and ask them?
