How do you summer travel?

I use a battery powered fan if the temperature is not extreme, otherwise it is generator or campground time.

RV Parky app and look what is the area down the road about the time I want to stop. We call ahead for the night and seldom can't get an over night space for a single night. I travel during the week and am planted weekends.

For those using a generator during summer travel, I personally do not see it being a cost effective night's stay. Fuel consumption for the night, to me, would equal staying at a COE park, Passport American park or similar cheaper spot. In one year of traveling cross country and back to FL, I stayed in 1 WalMart and that was because I could not find a suitable campground in the area I was in. And, since it was 47 outside, no need to worry about a generator.

No overnight Wallydocking for us if the temps are high enough that warrant using the AC. We gladly pay to stay in an RV park so we can relax and sleep without having to hear the sound of annoying generators.

After a 300k-400k mile drive pulling a 11k 5th wheel trailer were ready to stop for the nite at a camp ground or rv park. Just plug in on arrival and unplug in the morning when hitting the road.

Hi wanderingbob, No problem with noise or do you put some kind of shroud over it to help with noise? What kind of genny do you use?

I carry a generator in my truck bed . We usually travel north quickly and get in a cooler climate ' Sixty days last summer .

I plan out my route for a comfortable division of the days needed to arrive, pick a spot along the way and reserve a site.

I allow time to pull in early, before suppertime, and make it part of the holiday. An evening to relax, chill a bit and enjoy the journey. I get at minimum a spot with 30A electrical so I can run the AC. For one night, setup is minimal, and I can use the onboard water and holding tanks. If it's level enough, I sometimes won't even unhitch.

No stress, no rush, no worries about being chased out of WallyWorld parking lot.

I only use the genny if I absolutely have to. This past summer, I didn't even bring it. I had reservations at 4 locations, all with full hookups.

Park far away from those running their generator all night.
