Since you have the diesel engine your rear axle is an AAM 11.5". It's the same one used in a 3500. It's rated by AAM for 10,200 pounds if I remember correctly. So, your rear axle isn't the weak link, it's your tires and/or wheels. If your tires and wheels are up to carrying the weight you place on them I wouldn't worry about the rear axle.
You've already addressed the springs with the air bags so I wouldn't worry about that either.
As for legality, GVWR, tow rating, and GCWR are not legally enforceable. Tire weights and tag weights are so you will need to pay the money to have your tags up to the right weight. I know it seems strange but a truck with a 9,200 GVWR and a passenger car tag is over weight if loaded to 9.200 because the tag is only good for about 7,500 pounds if I remember right (at least in VA). The same truck, with a tag of 12,000 is legal to haul 12,000 assuming you don't overload the tires.
If I were you I'd want a dually for all the weight you're carrying. But, if you want to keep the truck you have it can be made to work. Just be carefull. That's a lot of weight and trailers for any truck.
