The newest generation of SRW 350/3500 trucks are very different than anything in earlier generations.
We tow a 5th wheel that is approaching it's 16K GVWR with a 2015 RAM 3500 SB CC 4X4 with Aisin tranny. We have put 26K miles on it in a year and a half. Towed small 5th wheel from Washington to Arizona and the new one down this winter. We traveled down 93 thru Nevada with 40MPH cross winds this year. It was completely stable and I never felt that I was getting pushed around. I am sure that the LRG all steel ply Sailun tires on the trailer contribute to stable towing.
Towing with this truck is much more relaxing that the previous 2001.5 RAM. All though I liked the Banks exhaust brake on the old truck better. I would not tow with a diesel truck in the mountains without an exhaust brake.
Trailer is 39'4" with tall roof line all the way back. Here are some weights.
Steer 5120
Drive 6620
Truck sub total 11740
Trailer 12780
Combined 24520
Truck ready to tow 8900
Pin 2900
Trailer 15,600
Truck ratings.
GVWR 11,700
RGAWR 7,000 (LT275/70R18E at 3640 each)
5th wheel towing 17,050
GCWR 25,300
BTW the truck is tabbed for 12K in the State of Washington.
