How heavy is TOO heavy? GVWR on a 2500

@meagain the bottom line is not that your 3500 SRW is rated to carry way more than the OP's 2005 2500HD. It comes back to do you believe in the ratings.
We try to lump all 3/4 tons together. Or assume that because this guy does it with his 1 ton SRW I can too. As you mentioned model year is very important.
Look at the parameters for each individual truck and they will tell you what it is capable of.
You can believe/trust the numbers or you can ignore them.
