I can see where you're coming from for sure. I'd honestly say the argument under normal conditions is more so the tire contact much of which is the front so obviously the same.
I'm personally not too worried about stopping, my 5er has great brakes and the new truck comes with a very capable engine brake. I can't imagine they gave the truck a 30k towing capacity because it'll have a hard time stopping the ~18,000 I'll have. I believe the GCWR is 37,600lbs. Just a smidgen more than my current 22,000lb rating!
