How long did ZEP last on your TC

That little TC is a whole lot bigger when you start cleaning it to apply ZEP. Just finished my AF990 and that thing is huge when you're scrubbing it.

Four coats of ZEP on the front cap and it almost blinded me in the afternoon sun. I'm really liking it.

For those of you who have used ZEP to make it shine, how long have you gone before cleaning and re-applying??

  • For those who haven't heard about it...

The boating industry came up with an acrylic coating that can be applied to fiberglass boats after the gel coat gets oxidized where it doesn't shine anymore. It makes the boat(or TC)look great. It is quite expensive.

My brother coated his boat and it lasted about 3 years before having to be re-applied.

ZEP makes a floor finish that is acrylic, you can buy it at home improvement stores, and fairly inexpensive. It's easy to apply but you have to clean the TC good.

I don't know if it is the exact same chemical makeup as that sold in the boating industry but it works wonders on oxidized paint and fiberglass.

I just put it on a 9 year old AF (it was in Florida for about 4 years) and it really looks good. 4 coats on the front and 3 on everything else.

I'm just hoping it will last more than a year or two. Only time will tell.

I'm going to put it on the floor tomorrow.

To the OP, I'm also on year 4. Have not done anything except wash sinceapplied and still looks great. Going to do a couple of refresher coats soon. Best cleaning effort I ever used.
  • ZEP is floor polish that is not recommended for use on RV's (or anything else outdoors) but people do it anyhow. It is supposed to be a way to get a real shiny camper.
