Yeah in the years of 4 teenagers it wouldn't pay to drive new stuff. Father in law bought a Caravan new that I bought from him with Mopar 3.3. Sold it with 250,000 only maintenance except it ate one transmission ($900) then I bought a 7 year newer model again that FIL bought new with Chrysler 3.8 that had over 200,000 before selling it, only maintenance.
Bought a one owner poorly built Pontiac Grand Am with the 180 HP Olds Quad Four that I sold with 250,000. It went thru 3 water pumps. Most people would overheat them when the water pump went bad and warp the head. That guy bought it just for the motor. Father in law bought a new 89 Buick Park Avenue with the Buick 3800. He maintained it & eventually sold it to his son who didn't maintain it who gave it to his son who did maintain it but later sold it with 315,000. It had never been apart. Nothing but routine maintenance.
Currently I have a 2014 Ram Ecodiesel that I use to transport TTs for the Mfgs. It has 341,000 and runs great. If the motor trans or rear went I would throw one from a salvage yard in it as I couldn't replace it for what I could fix nor could I get what it's worth to sell or trade. It does not have to be from a foreign owned company to last just properly maintained instead of neglected.
