How Long Do Your Propane Tanks Last

I would say I have to refill one of the tanks every season and a half to two seasons. I run the everything off propane when I'm desert camping. But really the furnace only comes on maybe 10 times on a really cold night.

I would say either I'm really frugal with propane use, or I need to get out more. I would guess probably 20 - 40 days per tank.

Mine have lasted 11 years, the gas in them will last for about 2 mo or in the winter, about 2 wk.

It all depends how cold it gets. There were times this winter when a tank lasted 24 hours when in the 30s all day. When it is not cold, I can get as much as a week cooking and having the furnace on sometime during the night. Never more than a week during the winter, unless you want to freeze to death.

I use a catalytic heater, no battery power needed.

With my 26' living space and a 12'x3' slide and 300AH worth of batteries I can get 2 nights without a recharge with overnight lows of 27-28° and be at about 55-60% SOC, not quite enough for a 3rd night. When I had 170 AH I was lucky to get 1 night and not drop below 50% SOC.

I keep the camper at 50-55 at night, and will warm it up to 65 in the morning and if it's really nasty hold 60-65 most the day.

All these answers are great, what Im thinking is if you are doing a 2 day dry camping trip and you plan on running heat, how long will your batteries last?

We get three days per 30lb tank during hunting season in the fall and a couple weeks in the summer.

I have two 100lb tanks that are plumbed in for long stays in the winter. Saves on trips out for propane.

We just filled our tanks for the current trip when DGS#1 and GF wanted to visit for a few days. Their usage for 5 nights...days??..was almost both tanks. Yikes!!! I believe whatever was in the Victoria's Secret bag was not flannel and likely not for warmth.

Yes the fridge uses propane, but it`s use is minimal compared to the furnace and water heater! that is why I didn`t mention it. and the fridge only uses propane when it`s not plugged in to shore power.

Well, we have 2 30 lb tanks on our TT and this will be our 3rd year on our first tank!
One tank is disconnected and runs to our homemade outdoor kitchen ... runs a Coleman 3 burner camp stove.
The other tank stays connected to run the refrigerator if we ever loose power.... which I don't think has happened yet.
For heat we use an electric heater and maybe the furnace for 20 min or so a couple of times during the week if it gets really cold.... have done that maybe 3 times in the past 2 years.
Water heater is always electric.

We camp exclusively in Provincial Parks and the electric is included in the camp fees, and since they are so high, ($45.00/night before senior discount) I figure I'll use what I need and save the propane!

So ... there's the other end of the spectrum for ya.

There's no way to guess how long tanks will last because it depends on how you use them!
