Get a 5-gal bucket, and time how long it takes to put 1-gal in it.
It will have to do with the rate of flow that the shower nozzle has.
If you have a 1.0 GPM shower head, you can take a 3-4 minute shower, before that water is being cooled by the incoming water.
For what it's worth, I'd say that if you are willing to take "Navy Showers", cutting the water "off" when you are soaping up.....just use it to rinse, and rinse off.....you will have more than enough hot water.
Those small tanks will heat up pretty quickly, so I know that when DW and I use the shower, we haven't had any issues.....but also realize that we can't take a 20 minute shower either.
