Reading some reviews about Surge Protectors, looking at the one that can be reset, several people that posted reviews say they like the product, but don't last much over the 12 month warranty to around a 2 yr max. and most that posted said only using the product 6 to 9 times a yr.
Hate to spend $250- $300 dollars if only going to last that long, or are the posts the minority not the majority.
Returning to your original post ...
If you've read this far should by now understand that protecting your trailer's electrical system from any one of a number of campground power vagaries with an EMS / surge protector is definitely better than not doing anything at all. Will it protect your trailer from everything under all imaginable power line errors? - no, of course not, but having one in place is far better than not using one at all.
Secondly, it's not unexpected that these devices can fail simply because some of the components best suited for the task at hand can degrade over time and with sufficient degradation will eventually fail. That's not unexpected and is the reason Progressive Industries offers a lifetime warranty to cover such a situation, in which case there's absolutely no reason at all to not buy with confidence.
Wanting to possibly get one before our annual kick-off camping season trip Easter weekend.
I notice Progressive is currently running a 20% off "Superbowl" discount on selected items ... I've already got my EMS-HW30C so it's no advantage to me but for anyone interested in taking that extra step to help protect their rig's electrical system this is probably as good a time as any as long as you go into the purchase with realistic expectations. :)
