TT's have so many hidden spaces we don't need a safe
AS I say. you have to understand. RV thiefs, know about the hidden spaces on RVs. All RVS have pretty much the same hidden spaces. They can be in and out in a minute, which is what they count on. they will not stop to try to tear out a safe. They don't have time. - WandaLust2ExplorerWe don't have a safe. We leave everything of value not necessary for travel in the USA at home, or in the safe deposit box in town. We carry our charge cards and cash on ourselves, and not much cash at that. There are ATM machines everywhere if we need cash. If someone wants to break into one of our RVs they wont find much of value as most camping stuff came from Goodwill. :B The 45 is so well hidden they'd have to dismantle the TT to find it. ;) Almost all RVs have a good hideyhole somewhere. You just have to find it. My main concern is our 4 cats. The RV can be replaced but the cats, like children, cannot. We would be devastated if they became lost or... worse.
- SprinklerManExplorerI have a small safe , I hide it in plain sight as soon as you walk in the camper , it is not bolted down , it has about 4 dollars in change , and some rocks in it .
I figure if someone breaks in and they see the safe they will take and run right quick . ( bought it at a yard sale for a couple dollars ) Valuables , just the family ( I have something to protect them) the rest of the stuff , I really don't care about they are just things . - okoboji_fanExploreri put all my money and expensive jewelry in a zip lock bag and flush it so its in the black tank. Do I really do this ? NAAAAA I hoping somebody reads the first sentence and they will empty my tanks for me!

That's funny. You know what would be worse than having your stuff stolen? If they just cut the string. :B
That's why the heavy duty string ;) - CavemanCharlieExplorer III

Just remember. The crooks KNOW where the good hiding places are as well. If you think there is place in your RV that no one else has ever found. Think again.
Hide it in the glove box? Most don't lock anymore, and a hammer will open any vehicle.
And in truth. they aren't really interested in stealing the whole RV.
Safes provide just enough deterrent. Crooks don't want to hang out long, and most don't carry a crowbar, or hacksaw. They are looking for something they can grab in a hurry. So stuff laying in a cubby hole, can be gone in a flash. Stuff locked in a safe, bolted to the floor. Just takes too much time to steal.
True, I guess my situation is different in that where ever I am my pickup is too so it's never left alone to give someone the time to break out a window making a lot of noise and then getting stuff out of the inside. But, for some people I suppose it would be different. - PenManExplorer

Seems to me that since the whole thing is on wheels anyway what good is a safe going to be? A good hiding spot would be just as well.
Not to mention where oh where could you bolt down a safe that couldn't easily pried from the floor it's attached to? I suspect the factory built ins might be securely installed, but all of 'em I have seen would appear to be easily pried open. Hell, knowing the RV industry, the locks on them probably use the infamous CH751 key! :B
mine couldn't "easily" be pried from the floor. yes a chain saw would remove it. a plasma cutter could take off the top. but when they see my arrangement, they will just go next door to your RV to steal stuff.
