How many of you pull a 5er with a standard bed?

I don't need a 8' bed do I? Now (unless the scales show me differently) I can do a 3/4 ton instead of a 1 ton... I really want to keep this vehicle as compact as I can.. We will do a little off roa...

When I was towing the race car in the 90's with a 42' fifth wheel, all fifth wheels were towed with standard beds. There were no short beds back then in the 350/3500 and 250/2500 trucks. The short bed trucks came and along came the new sliding hitches and revolution hitches.

If I was to tow a fifth wheel again, I would rather have a standard bed than a short bed. I don't want to deal with fancy hitches.
