How many Offer Split Level Aiir conditioners?

Elite Caravans likes to keep its customers happy. So much so, the Melbourne manufacturer has fitted a number of domestic appliances including a 60inch LED TV, Bose surround sound system, and 8.5kg washer dryer, into some of its apartment-style caravans.

Now Elite is offering perhaps the ultimate holiday indulgence by installing home-style, split system air-conditioners into some of its biggest custom-built vans.

Elite Caravans’ Peter Smith said demand is greatest from those travelling through Australia’s hottest regions who want something with more cooling efficiency than a compact RV air-conditioner.

The latest example off the Elite production line is a custom-built, twin-axle Murray Series 4 model (pictured) fitted with a Mitsubishi reverse cycle, inverter split-system. Separate head units are located in the bedroom and living areas, which run off the compressor unit mounted on the drawbar.
Even in 50 degree(122F) temperatures you can get it down to 18 degrees.”(64F}

Not uncommon to fit aftermarket systems to do that here, but how common is it in US Travel Trailers as a standard fitting?.

    I would say so as RV's become more like "alternative housing" the more you will have this happen.
  • Should be an easy conversion. Mitsubishi and others make split system with the condensers that could easily be mounted on the rear of a trailer. Just would have to make sure there is enough air flow around the condenser, maybe put it on a mount that can be turned ninety degrees out when setup. Sure would be quiter and more efficient than the roof tops we use now. My brother installed a dual system on his new addition in his house, extremely quite and small. Maybe this could be the future in RV cooling and heating. Travel on.
