I have always used a couple containers of fresh coffee grounds. I leave them in the fridge for a few days and then toss them out. If I smell anything other than the coffee grounds I repeat the process. Then when I have just a coffee smell I just use the fridge like normally and then the coffee smell with eventually go away and you have a nice clean smelling fridge.
