How to keep genorator secure while in use?

I am getting ready to purchase a champion 3100 inverter/ genorator for running my ac and stuff when I boondocks in parking lots and such on my way to campgrounds. I will haul it in the bed of my truck. But when I am ready to use it, where should I put it and how should I secure it to keep it from getting stolen easily? Chain it to my camper bumper?
  • Why would you need to chain it up when YOU'RE THERE and it's running?

I was thinking the same thing. Once you don't hear it running anymore or the AC/Lights go out its time head outside swinging. Locks only keep the honest people out.
  • I was just thinking in the middle of the night I would want to chain it. Maybe give me a few extra minutes to get out of the camper and see what's goi g on. Lol

At night put it away, out of sight. Never run it in a parking lot overnight. And if you're using it to watch TV, consider getting an inverter. Nice and quiet.

I visit other sites so I'm not sure where I read it but people have had them stolen during the day.
  • A chain would work OK if there was a large enough dog on the other end.
  • Where do you go that people would steal it? If it is small enough put it in the TT when you go.
