- P_KennedyExplorerThe protesters probably also did not factor in the permit costs of that load paid their portion of road taxes to fix the roads for the next 20 years. I agree go find something important to protest and leave the actual working people alone they are stimulating the economy.
- bobx2ExplorerHa, that's funny. People organizing protests about an over sized load... Good God people, get a life, and maybe a clue as well. The amount of engineering and calculations that go into a move like this one are obviously way beyond the mental capabilities of the protesters. And yes, I do have some personal experience with extreme, heavy moves. Structural engineers study the bridge crossings, all axle loads are calculated, road conditions and subgrades are investigated and so on.
Sometimes it's just not practical to disassemble, move and reassemble a load, but then, some people just need something to gripe and complain about. Turtle n Peeps wrote:
So Rick, were you among the protesters? Or did you offer your Ram up to give the "train" a little more pulling power? :B
No... He's probably just putting around...- chevorExplorerNo,no,no its too big for an Ecoboost and a Dodge. Defiantly need a Toyota.

It has enough tires on the trailer that it won't do any more damage to the roads than a standard semi load. Actually , probably less because it is going so slow. All the axles also steer so it doesn't scoot tires like a normal tandem trailer would.
Well said.
. It amazes me to see so many who protest against any issue while at the same time having little understanding of the issue itself.
Most probably saw the listed weight of the item and worked off that alone. - 45RicochetExplorer

Yeah I pulled in and they ditched the other 4 rigs :B It was interesting looking at the rigging for the additional tractors. I was wondering how they teamed up for shifts? or maybe they just stay in low gear up the hills. OBTW Canada, there is a 6% grade on that route for about a mile or so. 1,000,000 lbs up 6% is still impressive IMO. Oh I won't mention the Lewiston grade of 7% for about 5 miles :W
I was a bit worried about our 2 mile long bridge though, it's like 100 years old and if that went down I'd be stuck shopping in Canada :B I mean the dollar difference and of course the beer prices :R - transamz9Explorer

It should be assembled on site. At a point in time if a load was too heavy for the roads and bridges then it was sent by rail. Our roads are broken to pieces now and we wonder why.

Obviously you would need the HD payload pkg... :B
