How to remove the cover of a tonneau cover

I always had canopies on bakkies and never had a tonneau cover before. I forgot to ask the sales person how to operate or how to remove the cover of a tonneau cover?

Can someone explain?

I'm the owner of 2014 Suzuki Jimny.
  • Depends on the brand they operate differently. Some roll up, some fold up in sections and some the whole thing lifts. There should be a catch under it by the tailgate. Photo may help
  • My new tonneau cover releases with a catch on each side under the cover.
You have to release one side, then walk and hold on to back of cover to the other side and release that catch. Then mine rolls up and has a hook at each side near the back window. The company gave me paper directions with mine.
  • Could be:
    - Snaps
    - Velcro
    - Plastic Interlock
    - Folding
    - Rollup
    - Single piece that lifts

    Need more info.
  • Most soft covers have a latch underneath (inside bed) near the tailgate. Open the tailgate and look for something that is spring loaded. Twist or squeeze to release the latch, and roll it up.

Hard folding covers tend to have top size exposed lock/latches.
  • If you have to ask that....maybe he's stuck inside the truck bed on a lonely barren stretch of trail.
  • If its a soft cover, a knife works wonders.

OP is from the wrong side of the pond, hence the terminology.
