How to replace tv antenna cable

I have a 2004 Arctic Fox 990, I need to replace the TV cable going from the antenna on the roof to the TV antenna amplifier on the inside of the camper. I haven't attempted it yet, just looking for some suggestions. Thanks for any help.

If you get the old one moving, use one of those barrel connectors to tow the new cable behind it. I’d still wrap electrical tape from old to new since those ends can be pulled off with enough force.
Thats a great idea, never thought of that. Hopefully i can get to it soon. Thanks

You can borrow one from a coax wall plate. They are usually just a double-ended connector with a nut holding them into the plate.

  • All the above ideas are good then attaching the new cable to the old cables end. Takes two people, working together. One pulling slowly and the other fishing the new cable as the top person pulls to top of the van. The other fishing the in a new cable behind the old cable. Also, mark off every foot with a Black MARKER pen so you will have a good idea how far you have come and gone. Make SURE it won't come apart. GOOD LUCK just take your time and don't rush it.

  • I think i'm going to fish it through when i pull the old cable out. If it can be done, we'll find out.
  • I did it to my dinosaur 1990 Coachman that was my rebuild/learners project and it was routed thru the ceiling joists. Not knowing what I was doing at the time I yanked it like a tug o war contestant and I got it out but... you guessed it,it never went back the same way. I ended up running it behind the jack knife sofa and through the kitchen cabinets. PIA but came out great.
  • Often replacing the connectors on each end resolve problems. Coax can usually be routed on the roof, in ceilings, cabinets, storage areas and walls as required.
