how to store folding camping chairs?

My chairs are in my outside storage compartment. They are the only thing I use out of that compartment on a regular basis. When I arrive, I open the compartment and grab however many chairs (4 total) I will need for the stay. Two have bags - I don't find them difficult to get in and out, and it reduces the legs from catching on each other as I pull them out.
As for 8 being too many, I think that all depends on how many people you travel with - 8 chairs for 2 people is overkill; 8 chairs for 6 people is not.
