Yep, this is how I do it also.
There was guy here on the forum a couple years ago, that accidentally left the bathroom faucet open when the campground owners had the main water temporarily off for repairs. Camper owner left for a few hours came back to a flooded camper. Had he left his grey tank valve opened it would have not been an issue.
