I waxed our front cap today which has a very pronounced curve to it and the top is probably around 11' above the ground. I used an 8' extension ladder and wrapped an old sleeping bag around the top. If using a ladder like this, you need to have a steep angle so that you aren't pressing very much against the cap because they aren't very strong and you don't want to damage it. A helper holding on to the ladder would be a good idea.
