Um, no. I've actually made money on a wreck before. Insurance company paid out $2k more than I paid for a used car when I wrecked it on black ice 28 days after buying it, didn't even get to put plates on it. I've got gap insurance on my current trailer valued at $16k, trailer was $12,500 so if it's wrecked I'll get the balance of the loan plus personal property and I've got travel interruption insurance so I might even come out ahead financially. There's a cost to the coverage of course, but saying that insurance never pays off enough to make you whole is BS.
