Yep, I've noticed all the major brands have lowered their number of hybrids as well as Pop Ups. I was looking at Pop Ups and compared to only a few years ago, there's really no choice in floorplans.
I think makers have cut back their Hybrid and Pop Up floorplans because of the ever so increasing tiny Travel Trailers out there now. Back in 2008 small Travel Trailers were hard to find on a dealers lot but now it's different. There's so many small Travel Trailers suited to families, having bunks, and suited to couples, the need for folding tent quarters may have declined.
While I do appreciate having an open bunk for quiet nature scenes from the campsite, many people I know go to noisy (even State Parks) and less scenic campgrounds where the tent material becomes a negative instead of a positive.
The R-Pod campers from Forest River are a good example. They come with most features of a small light weight Hybrid but are lighter (as a Pop Up), more aerodynamic, and easier to store. They have several models with bunks for a family. R-Pod does have a hybrid model but only 1.
I go to State Parks and there's a good mix of Pop Ups, Travel Trailers and Tents. Hybrids are fewer but there none the less.
