Hydro-flame Furnace has intermittant squeal

Hello to you all, I have a '90 lynx TT with a Hydro-flame 79/80 furnace. My problem is that it is now making a squeal at start up then comes and goes while running, sometimes I can get it to stop with a tap on the furnace cover but not always. Is this a maintenance issue (lube) or a part replacement. I read in the manual that there is annual maintenance for the blower wheels but doesn't say how to do it. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it very much, thanks for your time, Mike

  • AAA RV Appliance in Sacramento. Have used them for well over 25 years. Great people.
  • Thank you for the responses, I think I will replace the motor and give it a good cleaning. Does anyone have a good resource for finding and buying the motor?
  • Ours did that when not used for a long time.Mind you we almost never used the furnace.Wonder if lube dries up.
  • You can remove, clean, and oil it. But, after going to all the trouble to remove it you might as well put a new fan motor in there while you got it out. Still don't forget to clean it once you have it out. I removed one once and shook a whole coffee can of mud dauber nest's out of it after I took it out.
  • Sounds like you need to do a through cleaning job.

That means you will need to remove furnace from cabinet in order to get to blower motor and blower/combustion wheels to clean and lightly oil.

Here is a service manual........pg. 39 shows exploded view of your model
