Now that you have a kit and know how to use it I would just use the truck and make repairs if necessary. I own a 2000 F-250 with 170k miles on it with the 6.8 mod motor. I will carry a kit in case it happens, its made it to 170k miles without it happening. I'm planning a long trip with it this summer.
Like some said it's about the comfort factor. I use to buy a new truck every 5 years. I can show you all the trucks I use to own, my neighbors are still driving them without issue's. I got tired of paying high personal property tax and insurance on new trucks and put the money in the bank to travel with. I tend to be proactive with maintenance and never have been left on the side of the road, yet.
If a newer truck will give you peace of mind it might be worth it.
