I have a 2004 5.4L Expedition with 252,000 miles. While I don't tow with this one I had a 98' and 2000 Expeditions that I towed our previous TT's with. Only one that ever spit a plug was the 04' not long after we bought it with 190,000 miles on it. Seems who ever tuned it up didn't torque the plugs. I got lucky and the plug had just backed out, no damage to the threads. I found two other plugs that were just finger tight!
All were former salesman's vehicles, hence the high miles.
To the OPer, I would just drive it. Change all the plugs, torque them, change all the fluids and check everything on the truck you can yourself and drive.
As previously stated, check out the Ford Truck Enthusiast site. It has saved me a lot of time and money when it came time to repair my vehicles. Good luck, John
