I contacted the detective and he checked the records with my truck. He said that I should be safe. The reason is that I should be safe is because the dealer may had signed the owner's title by forgery. If the owner comes forward, then my truck could be impounded. He also said that since I have the title and it is registered and I did everything right on my end, I will never be arrested or prosecuted. The worse thing it could happen is my truck will get impounded if the title was forged.

Will it better for us to sell the truck and move on? We don't have money to hire a lawyer or go through any kind of legal stuff.

No. I don't think it's likely that the truck will be taken away because you bought it from a truck dealership in good faith. See the code section I cited above. Besides that, now you know there is a *potential* problem and passing it along to a third party with that knowledge could only create actual problems. At the end of the day I think the truck will be legally yours with a clean title, and the issue will be between the dealership and the seller. Best thing to do at this point is enjoy the truck and wait for things to shake out. If by chance the cops do try to impound your truck, I'd get a lawyer involved at that point to be sure your rights are protected.
