Even the detective apparently said "if" this is the case, then the truck could be impounded...which I don't believe they could legally do anyway.
Yes, there's no indication the truck has a forged signature on the title. I wouldn't worry about it, there's nothing you can do.
However, if it did have a forged signature, I believe it CAN be impounded. No, I'm not a lawyer, but some years ago a friend bought a vehicle at auction from a city auction. About 4 months later it was impounded because it turns out it had been stolen prior to him buying it at auction. It didn't matter he had it titled and registered.
