I have a 2022 GMC crew cab dually for a work truck. It is a cab & chassis with a service body so the bed is 8' wide and 9' long. I park it in regular parking spots at Lowes, restaurants, gas stations, offices, etc. every day. I take it thru restaurant and bank drive thrus every week. There's room to open the doors just fine.
I do typically back into parking spots around the outside edge of a parking lot if it's small just because the truck is so long. The rear overhang can go over the curb and above what is usually a grass area around the edge of the lot. If it's a big parking lot, like at Lowes, I don't want to walk from the edge so I just take up a normal spot.
It sounds like you just need to get used to the larger truck. It's not really any larger than any other truck out there, not in width or height anyway. You will really appreciate the long bed for it's better ride, more storage, and larger fuel tank.
Thanks for the tip. I'm impressed if you can park a dually in a single spot. Mine is only single rear wheels. Maybe some parking lots have wider spots, too. I'll try to use some of your tips.
