A lot of options available and don't be too rough on yourself. Car salesman, like RV Salesman, are not all that versed on which TV can pull what TT. They want you to buy what they have on the lot vs. walking away or coming later to look at something else.
For me, the options all depend on where you plan on using the TT. If local the 1T P/U option is great and could provide ample tow capacity plus room for all the 'stuff' associated with camping. If you plan on traveling with your travel trailer, then the E350/Express 3500 van are great options. Get as long a wheelbase as you can find with the larger engines and highest capacity for weight (over seating capacity).
