I couldn't handle it anymore!!!
Been using my Uber-dependable 191,000mile '02 Chevy 2500HD 6.0 4x4 to haul my Uber-heavy Toyhauler for the last year and finally couldn't handle it anymore!
Actually in all honesty the truck pulled like a champ. 65mph at 2000 RPM in OD on the flatest of flat roads and 40mph at 4500rpm on the steepest of steep hills. But having to constantly "work" to keep the truck in the right gear, and building momentum got old. Also a 26gallon tank at 6mpgs sucked for range.
Soooooo after months of debate, and wanting to take some longer trips this summer, the DW and I decided to bite the bullet and get our first car payment in 5+years.
And here she is!!
2014 Ram 3500 Laramie SRW Crew cab long box, Cummins/68RFE (I think??) 4x4 with 23k on the clock.
12,300 GVW 8,000 Emtpy (verified)
4300 payload per sticker
6000 FAWR
7000 RAWR
25,500 GCVWR
17,100 Tow Rating
Here is a CAT weight from one of our first trips to the desert. This was with 120Gal of water, 3 quads, 1 Dirtbike and full gear and supplies for 4 days. Bed of the truck was also FULL of Firewood.
In short?? I love it. However my wife hasn't wanted to drive her suburban since we got it LOL.
The power and fuel mileage while towing are phenomenal.
And the Exhaust Brake??? HOLY COW!!!! How did I ever live without one?!?!?!?
