Found one. Asking price $20k. Up north so a little rust on truck.
2006 Lance 1055. Has nearly everything. No generator.
Truck is 1999 Dodge Cummins turbo diesel.
All in working order supposedly.
Seem reasonable?
Hard to say with such limited info. Miles, condition, options on the truck....needs tires, brakes, ect....is the truck properly setup? I've seen TC's going down the road that scare me....saw one yesterday, triple slide Host on a srw. Yikes!
Anyway...it might be a decent deal if the truck has a new built transmission if auto (known weak spot in those years), less than 150k and a loaded extra cab 4x4...and the camper is in great shape.
Or if it had 350k on it and is 2wd regular cab and rusted and the camper is only holding shape because it's in the truck....not a good deal.
You have built some rigs and know your way around RV's. This is good! TC's aren't unquie in the RV world, they use the same parts and materials as the other RV's. Find a camper you like. Then find a truck you that will carry it. Since your handy, don't get hung up on things like a crawl through...as you said you can add that. Mine....I think my 11 year old might get stuck in.
Do your standard Rv checks and then shop for a truck. With your budget, I would look at either Fords with V10's or GM trucks with at least the 6.0. Both should be a 2500 or 3500 and if you like the huge TC's just shop dual rear wheels since your budget won't allow new proper wheels/tires right away. If you can get a 2wd....I personally think that sort of truck is worthless to me personally and many feel the same....so they will be CHEAP.
